On November 28, 2011, the Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Angel Perdomo from an international amateur free agency.

The next summer, in 2012, he made his pro debut with the DSL Blue Jays, where he played in seven games with no wins and an ERA of 5.40.

He played more games with the same squad in 2013, going 0-1, 3.04 in 12 contests, and struck out 43 batters in 26 1/3 innings.

He relocated to the United States in 2014, where he played for the GCL Blue Jays, with a 3-2, 2.54 record in 13 games. With 57 Ks in 46 innings, he maintained a very good strikeout rate.

He played in short-season baseball for a fourth year in 2015, this time with the Bluefield Blue Jays in the Appalachian League and the Vancouver Canadians in the Northwest League, as the Blue Jays continued to gradually advance him up the organizational ladder.

He performed admirably, finishing with a 6-1 record and a 2.60 ERA in 14 games, including 12 starts. He played 27 games for the Midwest League’s Lansing Lugnuts in 2016, going 5-7 with a 3.19 ERA.

Even though his ascent up the organizational ladder was sluggish, he tossed 127 innings and racked up 156 strikeouts while doing well.

He was officially recognized as a top talent when he was selected for the World Team in the 2016 Futures Game.

His 2017 season was cut short on July 7th due to an injury while he was playing for the Dunedin Blue Jays in the Florida State League, where he went 5-6 with a 3.70 ERA in 16 starts.

He returned to Dunedin in 2018 but lost a portion of the season due to injury once more. He finished the season with a record of 1-5, 3.63 in 26 games, but just 12 starts.

Despite continuing to put up great strikeout numbers 100 in 79 1/3 innings against just 35 walks he was being overshadowed by the Blue Jays’ extensive pipeline of talented young pitchers.

He signed with the Milwaukee Brewers on November 12 after becoming eligible for free agency following the season; the contract came with an invitation to spring training in 2019.
