He participated in minor league baseball the following season with the Modesto Nuts. In August 2017, he was dealt to the Tampa Bay Rays.

With the Montgomery Biscuits that year, he played his first game for the Rays. He was returned to the Mariners by the Rays following the 2017 campaign in exchange for a spot on the list of international signing bonuses. He was hired by the Mariners, who promoted him to the majors in 2020. On July 24, 2020, when the Mariners faced the Houston Astros, he participated in his first MLB game.
