Dawkins got the nickname “the Shnowman” while he was a student at Rahway High School, which is located in Rahway, New Jersey. Dawkins joined the Temple Owls in January 2013, despite having already committed to play for the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Dawkins chose to attempt the vertical leap once more at Temple’s Pro Day, increasing his score from the Combine by two inches.

In the 2017 National Football League Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Dawkins in the second round (63rd overall). After Western Kentucky’s Forrest Lamp, Dawkins was selected as the second offensive guard taken in the 2017 draft.
