Dion Dawkins is an offensive tackle for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League.
Dawkins got the nickname “the Shnowman” while he was a student at Rahway High School, which is located in Rahway, New Jersey. Dawkins joined the Temple Owls in January 2013, despite having already committed to play for the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Dawkins started 41 of his 44 career games while playing for Temple University between the years 2013 and 2016. After completing his senior year, Dawkins was honored by being selected for the All-American Athletic Conference First Team.
Dawkins was invited to play in the Senior Bowl and started at guard for the North team. The North was defeated by the South by a score of 15-16, but he was recognized as the best offensive lineman in the Senior Bowl.
After putting in hard work in practice and playing well at the Senior Bowl, he saw an improvement in his draft stock. He took part in the NFL Combine and was successful in all of the combine drills as well as the positional drills.
Dawkins chose to attempt the vertical leap once more at Temple’s Pro Day, increasing his score from the Combine by two inches.
In the 2017 National Football League Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Dawkins in the second round (63rd overall). After Western Kentucky’s Forrest Lamp, Dawkins was selected as the second offensive guard taken in the 2017 draft.
