Ashtyn Davis is a member of the New York Jets of the National Football League and plays the position of safety for the team. After competing in both collegiate football and hurdles for the University of California, where he was a student, he was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets in the year 2020.
Davis spent his childhood in Santa Cruz, California, and completed his secondary education at Santa Cruz High School. At Santa Cruz, he was a wide receiver, and in order to improve his speed as a football player, his quarterback suggested that he try out for the school’s track team.
Davis began receiving interest from college track coaches late in his senior year after he put up a strong performance in the 110-meter hurdles in a county track meet despite the fact that he had never competed in the event before. This was despite the fact that he had been lightly recruited as a football player.
Davis first participated in athletics at the University of California as a member of the track and field team as a walk-on. It wasn’t until the spring of his freshman year that he tried out for the football team. Davis fought his way up the depth chart to become the starting safety alongside Jaylinn Hawkins during the second half of his redshirt sophomore year.
