Austin Pruitt is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Tampa Bay Rays, Houston Astros, and Miami Marlins.
It was at Navarro Collegiate and the University of Houston where Pruitt played college baseball for the Woodlands College Park High School.
When he was picked ninth overall in the 2013 MLB draft, he was signed by the Tampa Bay Rays. The Hudson Valley Renegades were his first professional stop after signing him, and the Bowling Green Hot Rods were his next stop after that in July. He was 0-3 with a 1.44 ERA in seven starts over the course of 14 games.
For the Charlotte Stone Crabs in 2014 and the Montgomery Biscuits in 2015, the right-hander had a combined record of 9-7 with a 3.73 earned run average in 26 games (25 starts).
A year ago, he had an 8-11 record and a 3.76 ERA with the Durham Bulls. To make room for Pruitt on their 40-man roster following the conclusion of the 2016 campaign, the Rays brought him aboard.
