Benning Potoa’e is a defensive tackle for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
Potoa’e started his career at Lakes High School, which is located in Lakewood, Washington. He was a multi-sport athlete who participated in football and basketball.
According to USA Today, Potoa’e was voted the state’s defensive player of the year. He was selected as an all-state player by the Seattle Times and the Associated Press.
After a successful high school career, Potoa’e attended the University of Washington and played college football for the Washington Huskies.
After spending his collegiate football career with the Washington Huskies, he became an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the year 2020.
During his junior year, Potoa’e participated in 13 out of 14 games, with the exception of the game played at Arizona. He participated in all 13 games that were played in 2017, starting 10 of them. He also played in the Huskies’ victory over Rutgers to open the season, recording three tackles.
