21-year-old Robert Andrew Witt Jr. is an American professional baseball shortstop and third baseman for the Major League Baseball Kansas City Royals. He was born on June 14, 2000.
In the 2019 Major League Baseball draft, he was chosen second overall by the Kansas City Royals. Witt graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, Texas, with a high school diploma.
He agreed to play collegiate baseball at the University of Oklahoma after signing a letter of intent. As a junior in 2018, he batted.446 with 10 home runs. He won the Nationals Park High School Home Run Derby that July.
Coors Field hosts a game. He was promoted to the Omaha Storm Chasers of the Triple-A East after batting.292/.369/.570 with 16 home runs, fifty RBIs, and fourteen stolen bases in sixty games.
Witt hit.285/.352/.581 in 62 games with Omaha, including 17 home runs, 46 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases. He was named USA Today Minor League Player of the Year as well as Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year.
During 2022 spring training, Witt began practicing at third base. The Royals announced Witt’s inclusion on the Opening Day roster on April 5, 2022. On April 7, he made his Major League Baseball debut as the Royals’ starting third baseman.
