Brad Boxberger was traded to the San Diego Padres alongside Yonder Alonso, Edinson Vólquez, and Yasmani Grandalfor Mat Latos on December 17, 2011.



Boxberger earned the 2006 CIF Division II Player of the Year and was voted Orange County Player of the Year by the Los Angeles Times and Orange County Register during his senior season as a starter at Foothill High in Tustin, Calif.

He was named to the NBCA All-America second team after going 12-0 with a 1.17 ERA in 78 innings pitched. He only gave up 22 walks while striking out 99 batters.

Boxberger, who was 6-4 with a 2.79 ERA after giving up three runs in the Division II title game against St. Francis of La Canada, did not allow another run for the rest of the game as Foothill recovered for a 4-3 victory.

He received first-team All-Sea View League honors in his junior season after pitching 62 2/3 innings, allowing 50 hits, 29 walks, and 79 strikeouts.

He pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings with four hits, four walks, and three strikeouts in his collegiate debut on February 3 versus Long Beach State, giving four unearned runs while pitching five innings.
