Timothy Brandon Stephens is a free safety for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League. Stephens attended UCLA and SMU for his college football career.
Stephens spent his childhood in Plano, Texas, and received his high school education at Plano Senior High School. In his senior season, he was named to the All-State team after rushing for 1,389 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Stephens had previously made a commitment to play collegiate football at Stanford, but he later backed out of that commitment and played for UCLA instead.
Stephens started his college career as a running back at UCLA. Stephens made the decision to withdraw from the program after a junior season in which he participated in only two games and completed his education in three years.
Stephens made the move to SMU and was able to participate in games right away because of his status as a graduate transfer. After having a discussion with head coach Sonny Dykes, the SMU coaching staff switched him to the cornerback position during the offseason.
In his first year with the squad, Stephens was promoted to the starting lineup and led the Mustangs in pass breakups with a total of 12. He finished his career with a redshirt as a senior and recorded 43 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and one interception.
