Terry Brent Rooker Jr. is a Major League Baseball outfielder and first baseman for the San Diego Padres in the United States. In 2020, he made his Major League Baseball debut with the Minnesota Twins.

Rooker attended Evangelical Christian School in Memphis, Tennessee, and went on to play baseball for the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Mississippi State University.

For the 2014 season, Rooker sat out. In 2015, he appeared in 34 games and hit.257/.325/.378 with two home runs and 12 RBI (RBIs).

He hit .324/.376/.578 with 11 home runs and 54 RBIs in 2016, helping the Bulldogs win the Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship.

He was selected as an all-star in the Cape Cod Baseball League while playing collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps in 2016.

 

Rooker was named Collegiate Baseball national Player of the Year and SEC Player of the Year in 2017 after leading the SEC with a .387 batting average, 23 home runs, and 82 RBIs, winning only the second triple crown in SEC history, as well as a.495 on-base percentage, .810 slugging percentage, 30 doubles, and 18 stolen bases.

He also took home the C Spire Ferriss Trophy, which is presented to Mississippi’s best college baseball player.
