Brent Rooker is an American professional baseball outfielder and first baseman for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2020 with the Minnesota Twins.
To play for the Mississippi State Bulldogs in college baseball, Rooker attended Memphis, Tennessee’s Evangelical Christian School.
Rooker did not play in 2014 because he was a redshirt freshman. The year prior, he appeared in 34 contests and batted a combined.257/.325/.378 with two home runs and twelve RBI (RBIs).
With 11 home runs and 54 RBIs, he helped the Bulldogs win the Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship in 2016. He was selected as an all-star in the Cape Cod Baseball League while playing collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps in 2016.
A.387 average, 23 home runs, and an SEC-record 82 RBIs led Rooker to be awarded the national and SEC Player of the Year in 2017. He was the second player in SEC history to capture the triple crown with a.495 on-base percentage, .810 slugging percentage, 30 doubles, and 18 stolen bases.
Additionally, he was awarded the C Spire Ferriss Trophy, Mississippi’s outstanding college baseball player, by the Mississippi Athletic Conference.
