Burke was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-team trade on December 21, 2018. To begin the 2019 season, he was optioned to the Frisco RoughRiders of the Double-A Texas League.

Burke was promoted to the big leagues by the Rangers on August 20, 2019. That night, he made his major league debut against the Los Angeles Angels.

Burke had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder and missed the entire 2020 season.
