Baseball pitcher Bryan Enrique Abreu was born on April 22, 1997, in the Dominican Republic. He now plays for the Houston Astros in Major League Baseball. In 2013, Abreu, a free agent from abroad, agreed to a deal with the Astros. He began his career in July of this year.



In November 2013, Abreu signed a deal with the Houston Astros after becoming an unrestricted international free agent. While pitching 22 innings out of the bullpen for the Astros of the Dominican Summer League in 2014, he made his professional debut, going 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA in 22 innings pitched.

He had a 2-2 record and a 3.83 ERA in his first 14 DSL outings back in 2015. (10 debuts) He started the 2016 campaign with the Greeneville Astros before being moved to the Gulf Coast League’s Astros. In 38.2 innings thrown, he had a 2.5-7 record and a 4.89 ERA.



In 14 games pitched for the Quad Cities River Bandits and Tri-City ValleyCats in 2018, he has a 6-1 record and a 1.49 ERA. In 2017, he went back to Greeneville and played eight games, finishing with a 1-3 record and a 7.98 ERA.

Abreu was added to the Astros’ 40-man roster by them after the 2018 season.

He joined the Corpus Christi Hooks, for whom he was chosen as a Texas League All-Star, after being promoted from the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, where he began the 2019 campaign.

The Astros elevated Abreu to the major leagues on July 31, 2019. He pitched a scoreless inning in a bullpen that night to make his major league debut.

The next day, he was transferred to Double-A Corpus Christi by option. Abreu walked seven batters and struck out two throughout his 3.1 innings of work before being fired from the team in 2020 because of poor accuracy.
