Bryan Enrique Abreu, a pitcher for baseball, was born in the Dominican Republic on April 22, 1997. He now competes in Major League Baseball for the Houston Astros. Abreu joined the Astros in 2013 as an international free agent. In July 2019, he made his major league debut.

In November 2013, after becoming an unrestricted international free agent, Abreu agreed to terms with the Houston Astros. With the Astros of the Dominican Summer League, he made his professional debut in 2014, pitching 22 innings from the bullpen and going 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA.

In his first 14 games back in the DSL in 2015, he had a 2-2 record and a 3.83 ERA. (10 attempts). He started the 2016 season with the Greeneville Astros before being transferred to the Astros of the Gulf Coast League. He had a 2-5 record and a 4.89 ERA in 38.2 innings.



He pitched in 14 games for the Quad Cities River Bandits and the Tri-City ValleyCats in 2018, posting a 6-1 record and a 1.49 ERA. He returned to Greeneville in 2017 and participated in eight games, finishing 1-3 with a 7.98 ERA.

After the 2018 season, the Astros added Abreu to their 40-man roster.

He started the 2019 season with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers before being promoted to the Corpus Christi Hooks, the team for which he was selected as a Texas League All-Star.

The Astros elevated Abreu to the major leagues on July 31, 2019. That evening, he pitched a bullpen inning and kept scoreless in his major league debut. He was optioned back to Double-A Corpus Christi the following day. Prior to being optioned off the squad in 2020 due to poor accuracy, Abreu walked seven hitters and struck out two during the span of 3.1 innings.
