Reynolds was drafted 59th overall in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants after playing collegiate baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Reynolds attended Brentwood High School and Vanderbilt University, where he was a member of the Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team.

Reynolds played in 72 games for Vanderbilt as a freshman in 2014, hitting .338/.395/.480 with four home runs and 54 runs batted in (RBI), helping the Vols win the College World Series.

He appeared in 72 games as a sophomore, hitting .318/.388/.462 with five home runs and 49 RBI.

He played collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League after the 2015 season. He hit .330/.463/.603 as a junior, with 13 home runs and 57 RBI.

Reynolds was taken in the second round of the 2016 MLB draft by the San Francisco Giants. He joined the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes and made his professional debut with them.

Later, he was assigned to the Augusta GreenJackets. Reynolds batted .313 with six home runs, 38 RBIs, and a .847 OPS in 56 games between Salem-Keizer and Augusta.

In 121 games with the San Jose Giants in 2017, he had a.312 batting average, ten home runs, and 63 RBIs. In 2017, he took part in the All-Star Futures Game.
