Bryan Reynolds Parents: Meet Greg and Michelle

Bryan Patrick Reynolds (born January 27, 1995) is an outfielder in Major League Baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Reynolds was drafted 59th overall in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants after playing collegiate baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores. In 2018, he was sent to the Pirates by the Giants. He debuted in Major League Baseball in 2019 and was named an All-Star in 2021.

Reynolds, Kyle Crick, and $500,000 in international bonus slot money were dealt to the Pittsburgh Pirates on January 15, 2018, in exchange for Andrew McCutchen and monetary considerations.

Reynolds was listed as Pittsburgh’s sixth top prospect by MLB.com heading into the 2018 season. Reynolds started the season with the Pirates’ Double-A affiliate, the Altoona Curve.

He was placed on the injured list on April 9 and activated on May 29 after undergoing hand surgery in mid-April. Reynolds appeared in 88 games for the Curve, hitting.302 with 46 RBIs and a.302 batting average. He began the 2019 season with the Pirates’ Triple-A affiliate, the Indianapolis Indians.

His contract was chosen on April 20, and he was called up to the main league squad for the first time. That afternoon, he made his major league debut against the San Francisco Giants, getting his first career hit, a single, off Derek Holland.

Reynolds has had an eight-game hitting streak since then, and on April 30, he blasted his first major league home run against experienced Texas Rangers closer Jesse Chavez. Reynolds played in 134 games and placed fourth in the National League Rookie of the Year voting.

Reynolds hit.189/.275/.357 with seven home runs and 19 RBIs in 55 games during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. The next season, his performance improved dramatically, and he was one of two Pirates, along with Adam Frazier, to participate in the 2021 All-Star Game, starting in center field and batting seventh.

He hit.302/.390/.522 with 24 home runs and 90 RBIs in the 2021 season. With eight triples, he tied for the major league lead.

Reynolds avoided arbitration by signing a two-year contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 14, 2022. Reynolds was promised $13.5 million under the pact.
