American football cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. was born on January 18, 1998, and is currently playing for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL).

He attended Washington University for his college football career. Saguaro High School, located in Scottsdale, Arizona, was Murphy’s alma mater.

He was both a cornerback and wide receiver for the team. On offence, he finished his senior year with 88 receptions for 1,733 yards and 21 touchdowns, and on defence, he finished with 52 tackles and seven interceptions.

Murphy has made a verbal commitment to play college football for the University of Washington. After spending his first year at Washington wearing a redshirt in 2016, Murphy played in six games and started all six of them in 2017.

However, he was sidelined for seven games due to injuries. By the end of the season, he had recorded a total of 16 tackles and three interceptions.

He made his way back to Washington as the starting quarterback in 2018. After making two interceptions in the 2018 Pac-12 Football Championship Game, one of which he returned for a touchdown 66 yards in length,

he was named the Most Valuable Player of the game. On January 7, 2019, Murphy made the announcement that he would be entering the 2019 NFL Draft instead of continuing his college career for the remaining two years of his eligibility.

In the 2019 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals selected Murphy in the second round (33rd overall). It was the Cardinals’ first pick in the position.

While playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 10 of the 2020 season, he made his first career interception against Jameis Winston in the team’s 30–27 loss to the Buccaneers.

In week 3 of the 2021 season, he had two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six for 29 yards, and the Jaguars were defeated by his team by a score of 31-19.
