According to Rivals.com, C.J. Brewer was a two-star prospect coming out of Bowdon High School. He was selected to the first team of the 5-AA All-State team by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and the Georgia Sports Writers Association selected him to the second team of the 5-AA All-State team.
As a junior, he was selected to the fourth team of all-state, and as a senior, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Times-Georgian All-Area Team and the Defensive Player of the Year for Region 5-AA.
C.J. During his junior year, Brewer earned the honor of being named the Times-Georgian Area Defensive Player of the Year in 2014.
As a junior, he was a member of the Bowdon basketball team and also earned All-Region 5-AA honors as a linebacker (first team) and offensive lineman (second team) for the Bulldogs’ football and basketball teams, respectively.
Brewer obtained a master’s degree in instructional technology in December 2021 after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history in December 2019. He was also named to the third team of the Associated Press All-America in 2020 and the Phil Steele Honorable Mention All-American in 2020.
Brewer was also three times named to the All-Sun Belt team, making the first team in both 2020 and 2021 and the third team in 2019. The two-time team captain participated in 58 games throughout his five years at Coastal. He finished with a total of 230 tackles, including 90 solo stops and 140 assisted tackles, in addition to 32.5 tackles-for-loss and 16.0 sacks.
