Today, the New England Patriots revealed that they had re-signed unrestricted free agent defensive lineman Carl Davis Jr. The particulars of the agreement have not been made public.

In the 2015 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected Davis out of Iowa in the third round (90th overall). The 6-foot-5, 320-pound player had spent the previous three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before being released on September 1, 2018, and then was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns.

Davis spent time in 2019 with the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars after spending the previous season with the Cleveland Browns.

On October 12, 2020, the Jaguars made the decision to release him, and on October 13, he was added to the practice squad. On October 14, 2020, Davis was signed by New England after spending time on the practice squad for Jacksonville.

Over the course of seven NFL seasons, Davis has participated in a total of 56 regular season games, making 17 starts, and has accumulated 54 total tackles, 1 ½ sack, and three passes defended.

During his time with the Patriots the year before, he participated in all 17 games and started four of them. He finished the season with 19 total tackles and one sack. Davis did not play in the playoff game that was held in Buffalo because he was inactive.
