In November 2018, he was placed on injured reserve. He agreed to a three-year, $45 million contract with the New York Jets in March 2021. Lawson suffered what seemed to be a left leg injury in August 2021 during a joint practice with the Green Bay Packers, terminating his 2021 NFL season.
