Shortstop for the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball, Carlos Javier Correa Oppenheimer Jr. was born in Puerto Rico on September 22, 1994. He had previously been a member of the Houston Astros. With the first overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, the Astros selected Correa.
Correa received the American League (AL) Rookie of the Year Award after making his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Astros in 2015. 2017 saw Correa play in the World Baseball Classic, win the AL Player of the Month honor for May, be selected for the MLB All-Star team, and take home the World Series trophy.
