Standing at a height of 1.91 meters, Casey Scott Sadler (born July 13, 1990) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Seattle Mariners. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago Cubs in the past.
Sadler attended Western Oklahoma State College for two years after graduating from Ripley High School in Ripley, Oklahoma. Sadler was drafted in the 25th round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he made his professional debut with the Low-A State College Spikes.
In 35 appearances for the Single-A West Virginia Power in 2011, Sadler had a 5–5 record and a 2.43 ERA.
He pitched for the High-A Bradenton Marauders the next year, posting a 4–6 record and 3.73 ERA in 32 games.
Sadler divided the 2013 season between the Double-A Altoona Curve and the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians, earning a combined 11–7 record and 3.37 ERA. After the 2013 season, Sadler was added to the Pirates’ 40-man roster.
The Seattle Mariners claimed Sadler off waivers from the Chicago Cubs on September 5, 2020. Sadler pitched in 7 games for the Mariners after joining them in 2020, finishing 1–2 with a 4.50 ERA.
Sadler was put on the 60-day disabled list with right shoulder impingement on May 30, 2021. After missing nearly two months, Sadler was activated off the disabled list on July 23.
Over 40.1 innings pitched, Sadler finished the 2021 season with an ERA of.67.
Sadler was struggling with inflammation in his right shoulder in March 2022 as a result of his prior injury in 2021.
Sadler will be out indefinitely, according to Mariners manager Scott Servais, pending a surgical decision.
