Cethan Carter is a fullback with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. He was born on September 5, 1995, in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States. While playing high school football at Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, Louisiana, Carter lined up as a tight end, H-back, and fullback.
He caught 23 passes for 418 yards and five touchdowns during his senior year of 2012, earning Honorable Mention All-State honors. Rummell finished the 2012 season 14-0 and captured the Louisiana Class 5A state championship. He played football for the University of Nebraska-Nebraska Lincoln’s Cornhuskers from 2013 to 2016. He studied criminology and criminal justice at Nebraska.
He played in 13 games in 2013, six of which he started, and he hauled in 10 receptions for 127 yards. Carter was named a True Freshman All-American in 2013 by 247Sports. He also garnered honorable mention for the Big Ten All-Freshman team. On May 5, 2017, Carter and the Cincinnati Bengals reached a contract agreement. In Week 15 against the New England Patriots in December 2019, he scored his first NFL touchdown.
By the end of the season, he had two receptions for 13 yards. He was a crucial part of the Cincinnati Bengals’ special teams, recording 16 special teams tackles. Carter re-signed with the Bengals in April 2020 on a one-year restricted free agent contract. In March 2021, Carter and the Miami Dolphins came to an agreement on a three-year contract.
