Green relieved Luis Severino in the first inning of the 2017 American League Wild Card Game with two runners on base after three runners had scored.
Green finished the inning with a pair of strikeouts and went on to pitch a scoreless second inning before being pulled in the third.
Green threw two innings, allowing one earned run while striking out four batters. He went 5–0 with a 1.83 ERA and 0.74 WHIP in 40 games for the 2017 season.
Balls hit against him had the greatest average exit velocity in the major leagues, at 91.0 miles per hour, in 2018, when he went 8–3.
Green struggled in April 2019, pitching 7+23 innings and giving 14 earned runs. On April 24, the Yankees optioned Green to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
On May 12, he made his comeback, striking out three batters in the ninth inning to seal a 7–1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. Green finished the 2019 season with a 4–4 record and a 4.17 ERA.
