Chase Young’s Age: How Old Is Chase Young?

Chase Young was widely regarded as its top overall prospect before being taken second overall by Washington.

He led all rookies in 2020 in terms of sacks and forced fumbles, earning the title of NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year and selection to the Pro Bowl. His second season was viewed as a letdown after he only managed 1.5 sacks before injuring his ACL midway through.

On April 14, 1999, Young was born in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Before enrolling in St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel, Maryland, in 2013, he attended St. Columba School in Oxon Hill, Maryland, where he started playing American football as a youngster.

He started out there as a quarterback, tight end, and outside linebacker as a freshman before concentrating on defensive end later that year. Young and the squad won the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association C-conference title the next year as a sophomore. He played the violin, saxophone, and piano in the school choir as well.

Young became the first rookie in Washington history to win the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Month award in December 2020, the same month that he was elected team captain.

In addition to being the lone rookie on the PFWA’s all-conference team, he was selected Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press and PFWA.

Young and Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson were the only two rookies selected for the 2021 Pro Bowl. In addition, he was a finalist for the Best Breakthrough Athlete Award at the 2021 ESPYs, which NBA star LaMelo Ball won, and he was listed as the 61st best player in the NFL in 2021.
