Professional American football player Christian Barmore is a defensive tackle for the National Football League’s New England Patriots. He stands 1.96 meters tall and weighs 141 kilograms. Prior to going to Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School, he spent his freshman year at Abraham Lincoln High School. He participated in high school football.
He made a verbal commitment to play college football for Temple after high school, but then changed his mind and reopened his recruitment. In the end, he decided to accept an offer from the University of Alabama rather than ones from Baylor, Florida, Georgia, and LSU. From 2018 to 2020, he participated in collegiate football for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
He participated in 12 games as a redshirt freshman, recording 26 tackles—including six tackles for loss and two sacks—and being selected to the SEC All-Freshman team. He finished the season with 37 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, three forced fumbles, and three passes defensed. As a redshirt sophomore, he was named first-team All-SEC.
He received the award for Defensive MVP of the National Championship game of the 2021 College Football Playoff. He declared that he would forgo the final two years of eligibility and declare for the 2021 NFL Draft. In the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots made him their pick. In July 2021, he agreed to a $8.5 million, four-year rookie deal.
