With a safety’s impressive performance as a rookie last year The Dolphins should be set at safety this season thanks to the addition of Brandon Jones, so Fejedelem can only hope that the team will still carry five safeties and that his special team’s contributions will be enough to keep him on the roster. But the pay cap is working against him as well.
There is no certainty that Fejedelem will make any of the $2.4 million that will count toward his pay this year.
Even if the Dolphins are not in a particularly precarious position with regard to their salary cap, should they really be paying $2 million for a player who will likely only see action on special teams?
