Ford had committed to TCU during his recruitment process before switching to the Oklahoma Sooners. Ford was a member of an offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award during the 2018 season and was selected to the third team of All Americans.

Ford said that he would enter the 2019 NFL Draft after this season. He was the third guard available when he declared, according to NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. The Buffalo Bills selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. During his first season, he alternated between playing guard and tackle.

He was flagged for an illegal blindside block during overtime of Buffalo’s Wild Card Round playoff loss to the Houston Texans. The Bills were advancing toward the goal line. The contentious penalty was a factor in Buffalo’s defeat in the match. Many Bills fans donated on after Ford was later fined $28,075 by the NFL for the block.
