On November 4, 1996, Cody McKinley Morris, an American baseball pitcher, was born. He’s a member of the Cleveland Guardians at the moment. Morris is a native of Columbia, Maryland in the US.
Morris attended Reservoir High School in Fulton, Maryland, where he completed his high school career. The Baltimore Orioles selected him in the 32nd round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, but instead of inking a contract, he opted to play collegiate baseball for the University of South Carolina.
He was eventually chosen by the Cleveland Indians in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Morris made his professional debut in 2019 with the Lake County Captains and Lynchburg Hillcats.
In 21 games (twenty starts), he had a 7-4 record, a 4.35 earned run average, and 111 strikeouts over 89 innings. He didn’t play in any games since the COVID-19 pandemic caused the postponement of the 2020 minor league season.
Prior to getting promoted to the Columbus Clippers in 2021, he began the season with the Akron RubberDucks. Between the two teams, he played in 15 games, starting 14 of them, posting a 2-2 record, 1.62 earned run average, and 93 strikeouts in 61 innings.
On November 19, 2021, the newly renamed Cleveland Guardians added Morris to their 40-man roster.
