Cody Thomas, an outfielder, made his MLB debut in 2016. Before signing with the Dodgers, he had been drafted by New York Yankees in the 30th round of the 2013 amateur draft, but he did not commit.

After splitting the 2016 season between Ogden and AZL, where he played for 19 home runs and 50 RBI, he finished with a .297/.383/.621 batting line. Short Season Joe Bauman Home Run of the Year went to him in 2013.

He slashed.222/.293/.409 with 20 home runs and 65 RBI in 2017 with the Great Lakes Loons. With the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, he opened the year.

In 127 games for Rancho Cucamonga in 2018, he batted .285/.355/.497 with 82 runs scored and 87 runs batted in, 35 doubles, 7 triples, and 19 home runs.

Tulsa Drillers in 2019, playing 130 games and hitting .236/.308/.443 in his first full season in the minor leagues with the Drillers.

With 17 doubles, six triples, and 23 homers, he remained a force to be reckoned with even as his batting average and on-base percentage declined.

The Dodgers’ system was so crowded that he never got the chance in either 2019 or 2020 to play for a major league team, and he was forced into idleness as the Dodgers won the World Series.

In exchange for IF Sheldon Neuse and P Gus Varland, he was moved to the Oakland Athletics on February 12, 2021.

A two-sport star at Oklahoma, Thomas played quarterback for the Cowboys.
