Banwart went undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Iowa. Up to September 9th, he signed a rookie free agent contract with the Titans. He then spent the remainder of the season working out with the Vikings and the Giants. The Miami Dolphins later signed him as an OL through 2024; after that, he will become an RFA in 2025.

After stints with the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants, Banwart signs with the Vikings practice squad.

Banwart struggled with injuries throughout his career at Iowa, and his first season as a full-time starter came in 2020.
