Colin Moran, born Colin Richard Moran is one of the professional baseball players who play as a third baseman for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. Colin grew up in New York where he played baseball for the Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, New York.

After high school, he enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) where he played college baseball for the North Carolina Tar Heels baseball team in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Whiles in college, he was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-America team, ACC Freshman of the Year, and Baseball America Freshman of the Year.

When he completed college, the Miami Marlins drafted him in the first round of the 2013 MLB draft. He signed with the Marlins and received a $3.5 million signing bonus. He made his professional debut that year playing for the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Class A South Atlantic League.

The Marlins traded him in July 2014 to the Houston Astros. The Astros traded him to the Pittsburgh Pirates in January 2018. In November that year, Colin was non-tendered by the Pirates, making him a free agent. He signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds on March 17, 2022.

Meet Colin Moran’s Brother, Brian Moran

Colin Moran’s brother, Brian Moran also happens to be a professional baseball pitcher. He was born September 30 1988 in Port Chester, New York.

He was drafted in 2016 by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2nd round of the draft. He played college baseball at North Carolina University.
