Connor McGovern Contract, Salary and Net Worth

Connor McGovern

McGovern was fantastic, and he excelled even more so when he was challenged to adapt to the zone-running concept favored by Mike LaFleur and the Jets.

Although his pass blocking may have been better, he was learning a new system while playing alongside an inexperienced quarterback, left guard, and tight end in the form of Greg Van Roten.

In the final weeks of the season, McGovern was able to do a better job of protecting the quarterback’s pass. He finished the season without allowing a single sack in seven games.

The Jets replaced Van Roten with Laurent Duvernay-Tardif at right guard, and by the end of the season, Zach Wilson appeared more at ease in his role.

McGovern will split time this season with Alijah Vera-Tucker, who will be seeking to improve his own pass protection, and Laken Tomlinson, a highly sought-after free agent signing.

It is assumed here that Connor will improve his own performance this year as a direct result of these alterations.

There’s only one thing about his contract status that makes me think twice about calling him the most unappreciated Jet. McGovern will earn $10.3 million in 2022, the third-highest salary among centers, in the final year of his contract.

For comparison, only Corey Linsley of the Chargers and Rodney Hudson of the Cardinals will earn more money this year.
