Corbin Brian Burnes (born October 22, 1994) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Milwaukee Brewers (MLB). In 2018, he made his MLB debut, and in 2021, he won the National League Cy Young Award.
Burnes was a student at Bakersfield’s Centennial High School. In 22 appearances during his senior year, he had a 9–4 win-loss record and a 2.23 earned run average (ERA).
Burnes debuted in the Arizona League with the Brewers and was later promoted to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Burnes went 3–0 with a 2.02 ERA in 35+23 innings pitched between Arizona and Wisconsin. He began the 2017 season with the Carolina Mudcats before being promoted to the Biloxi Shuckers after 10 starts with a 1.05 ERA.
He went to Saint Mary’s College of California after high school and played college baseball there. He was a member of the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League in the summer of 2015.
Burnes was listed as Milwaukee’s second-best prospect by MLB.com heading into the 2018 season. He started the season with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
On July 8, 2018, Burnes was called up to the majors for the first time, and on July 10, 2018, he made his major league debut.
