While he was playing college football in Oklahoma, where he also garnered the accolade, he was given the title for offensive lineman of the year in the Big 12 Conference in both 2019 and 2020.

This was the second time he had won the award at Oklahoma. The Kansas City Chiefs made the selection to add him to their roster in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2021.

During his time as a football player at the high school level, Humphrey was a student at Shawnee High School, which is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He is also ranked as the sixth-best overall prospect. In addition to that, he held the third-place spot for all of Oklahoma.

Humphrey was a member of the United States Army All-American Football Team that competed in 2017 and played in the game.

In June 2016, he expressed his intent to play college football for Texas A&M and made his commitment verbally.

Later on, though, he changed his mind about the commitment and instead signed a national letter of intent with Oklahoma.

Humphrey did not participate in any games during his freshman year at Oklahoma, so he was allowed to wear a red shirt.

During the 2018 season, he appeared in all 14 games and started a dozen of them. He returned to Oklahoma in 2019 and 2020 as the starting centre for the Sooners and was honoured as the offensive lineman of the year for the Big 12 Conference in both of those years.

In addition, he was selected as the starting guard for the Sooners in both of those years. Humphrey made a statement after the end of the 2020 season that

he will not be returning to school for his final year of eligibility and will instead join the 2021 NFL Draft. The decision comes after the completion of the 2020 season.
