Curtis Samuel is a wide receiver with the National Football League’s Washington Commanders. He stands 1.8 meters tall and weighs 88 kilograms. He was a running back for the Dutchmen football team while he was a student at Erasmus Hall High School. He rushed for 1,047 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior, averaging 11.5 yards per carry.
He gained 1,461 yards on the ground while averaging 15.8 yards per carry in his senior year, scoring 17 touchdowns. He received the 2013 New York Gatorade Player of the Year award and an All-American Bowl invitation. He attended Ohio State University after high school, where he played college football.
As a rookie in 2014, he had 11 receptions for 95 receiving yards and 58 carries for 383 rushing yards along with six rushing touchdowns. In 2015, he had 17 carries for 132 running yards, one rushing touchdown, and one. He added 74 receptions for 865 receiving yards and eight rushing touchdowns to his 97 carries for 771 rushing yards the following season.
In the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Samuel was taken by the Carolina Panthers with the 40th overall pick. 2018 saw him score his first career touchdown and finish the year with 39 receptions for 494 receiving yards. He signed a $34.5 million, three-year contract with the football franchise Washington Commanders in March 2021.
