In the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Reed. In his second season, Reed led the 49ers to the Super Bowl LIV, where they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 31-20.

At the beginning of training camp on July 28, 2020, he was added to the active/non-football injury list. On August 4, 2020, he was released from the list with a non-football injury designation.

The Seattle Seahawks picked up Reed off waivers on August 5, 2020. At the start of the regular season on September 5, 2020, he was added to the reserve/non-football injury list. He was then reactivated on October 31, 2020.

After Quinton Dunbar suffered an injury, he filled in as the right cornerback. In Week 8’s 37-27 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, Reed made his first career interception.

In Week 15’s 20-15 victory over the Washington Football Team, he made a second interception. Even after Dunbar was fit, Reed’s good performance allowed him to keep his starting spot for the remainder of the season.

Reed and the New York Jets agreed to a three-year, $33 million deal on March 17, 2022.
