Damar Romeyelle Hamlin, better known as Damar Hamlin, is a professional football safety who plays for the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills. He stands 1.85 meters tall and weighs 91 kilograms. In McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, in the United States, he was born on March 24, 1998. He played football when a student at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School. He was named first team All-State and the Class AAAA Defensive Player of the Year.
He enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh after finishing high school and played NCAA football for the Pittsburgh Panthers club there. Before getting hurt and redshirting as a freshman, he participated in three games. He participated in nine games and made 41 tackles as a redshirt freshman. Hamlin had 90 tackles and two interceptions as a redshirt sophomore for the Panthers, receiving honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors (ACC).
As a junior redshirt, he recorded 84 tackles and 10 pass interceptions. Going into his senior year, he was selected to be the team captain. He led the team with 67 tackles and seven pass interceptions, earning him a spot on the ACC second team. The Buffalo Bills selected Hamlin in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 212th overall. On May 21, 2021, he agreed to a rookie contract for $4 million with the Buffalo Bills.
