Damar Romeyelle Hamlin, also known as Damar Hamlin in professional football, is a safety for the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills. He stands 1.85 meters tall and weighs 91 kilograms. In McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, in the United States, he was born on March 24, 1998. He played football when a student at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School.
He was named first team All-State and the Class AAAA Defensive Player of the Year. He enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh after finishing high school and played NCAA football for the Pittsburgh Panthers club there. Before getting hurt and redshirting as a freshman, he participated in three games. He participated in nine games as a redshirt freshman and made 41 tackles in addition to one interception.
Hamlin earned honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as a redshirt sophomore for the Panthers with 90 tackles and two interceptions (ACC). As a junior redshirt, he made 84 tackles and intercepted 10 passes. Going into his final season, he was selected as team captain. After leading the team with 67 tackles and seven passes intercepted, he was named to the ACC second team.
The Buffalo Bills selected Hamlin in the sixth round, 212th overall, of the 2021 NFL Draft. On May 21, 2021, he and the Buffalo Bills agreed to a four-year rookie contract.
