Damarri Deshon Mathis is an American football cornerback who currently plays for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League. Mathis was born on April 12, 1999. (NFL).
He attended the University of Pittsburgh during his NCAA football career. Mathis grew up in Lakeland, Florida, and went to Lakeland Senior High School for his high school years.
Mathis was previously committed to playing college football in South Carolina, where he was regarded as a three-star recruit by recruiting services.
After first committing to play for South Carolina, he later changed his mind and chose to play for Pittsburgh. As a freshman,
Mathis participated in nine games, with the majority of his appearances coming on special teams. During his junior year, Mathis participated in all 13 of Pittsburgh’s games and started 10 of them.
He finished the season with 23 tackles, 11 pass breakups and two interceptions in addition to his 10 starts. He was forced to use a medical redshirt because of a shoulder issue that was unrelated to football and occurred before his senior season.
During the sixth season of his career, Mathis participated in 13 games, recorded 44 tackles, broke up six passes, had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a score,
and was chosen honourable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference. In addition, he received this recognition. Following the conclusion of his time playing college football, he participated in the Senior Bowl in 2022.
During the 2022 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Mathis in the fourth round, making him the 115th player overall to be selected.
