The Denver Broncos of the National Football League presently have cornerback Damarri Deshon Mathis on their roster. At Pittsburgh, he played collegiate football.

Mathis attended Lakeland Senior High School, which is located in the Florida town of Lakeland. Mathis was a three-star prospect when he made the decision to play collegiate football for South Carolina.

Later, he broke his promise to them by signing with Pittsburgh rather than South Carolina.As a freshman, Mathis participated in nine games, largely on special teams. During his junior season, Mathis started 10 of Pittsburgh’s 13 games and participated in all 13.


With 23 tackles, 11 passes broken up, and 2 interceptions in his final game of the year. Prior to his senior year, he used a medical redshirt due to a shoulder problem that wasn’t connected to football. Having finished his college career, he took part in the 2022 Senior Bowl.

In his fifth season, Mathis played in 13 games, registered 44 tackles, broke up six passes, recovered two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown, and was named honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference.
