Dane Belton is a professional football safety who plays for the National Football League’s New York Giants. He is 93 kg and 1.85 m tall. He played football and was a three-star recruit coming out of Jesuit High School, where he attended. After receiving honorable mention as a sophomore, he was named second-team all-state as a junior. He was also named first-team all-county as a junior and second-team as a sophomore.
At the University of Iowa, where he studied, he participated in college football with the Iowa Hawkeyes. He has 33 tackles, one sack, five passes broken up, and one forced fumble as a sophomore in eight games as a true freshman in 2019, four of which he started.
In 2020, he received honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition from the league’s coaches and media. He took part in every one of the eight games that season, contributing to a total of 19 solo tackles, 14 assists, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble. As a junior, he earned first-team All-Big Ten Conference honors for his 46 tackles, which included three for loss, seven pass breakups, and five interceptions.
Upon the conclusion of the season, he declared that he would be taking part in the NFL Draft in 2022. Belton was chosen by the New York Giants with the 114th overall choice in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. In August 2022 at training camp, he broke his collarbone.
