Jansen played high school baseball for Appleton West High School in Appleton, Wisconsin. After high school, he had planned to play baseball for Jacksonville University, but the Blue Jays chose him in the 16th round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

He chose to sign with the Blue Jays rather than attend college. He made his professional debut that year with the Rookie Division Blue Jays of the Gulf Coast League. In 2014, the Jays promoted him to the Rookie Advanced Bluefield Blue Jays. In 2015, he was a member of the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts.

In January 2016, he was granted entry to the Blue Jays’ Major League spring training. He took part in the Advanced-A Dunedin Blue Jays’ minor league season in 2016. After the season, the Blue Jays selected him to play for the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League.

The Blue Jays promoted him to the major leagues in 2018, and on August 13, 2018, he participated in his first MLB game when they played the Kansas City Royals.
