Phillips spent four years as a player for Western Michigan. By trading a wide receiver, Phillips had 32 receptions for 479 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie season. He also ran three times for 37 yards.

On March 17, 2022, Phillips agreed to a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. On August 30, 2022, he was let free.

The Denver Broncos later signed Phillips on September 1, 2022.
