The Philadelphia Eagles’ cornerback Darius Slay is American and plays in the National Football League. He was up in Brunswick, Georgia, and played running back and defensive back for Brunswick High School. He was chosen for the Georgia North-South All-Star Game and the back All-State team of The Atlanta Journal-defensive Constitution following his senior year.
During the 2008 season, he ran for more than 1,300 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. Six passes were also intercepted by him, and he returned two of them for scores. His medial collateral ligament was damaged when he ran for 336 yards and six touchdowns in five games during his junior season. He rushed for 1,127 yards on 142 attempts and scored 13 touchdowns as a sophomore.
In 2011, he transferred from Itawamba Community College to Mississippi State University. He was named to the first team for both the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 23 and the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State teams as a freshman at ICC. He played football for the Mississippi State Bulldogs under head coach Dan Mullen after graduating from ICC.
He recorded 64 tackles, six interceptions, and two touchdowns during his two seasons at Mississippi State. He was anticipated to be drafted in the second or third round after graduating from Mississippi State. Slay was chosen by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2020, where he inked a three-year, $50 million contract, $30 million of which was guaranteed.
