Greater Atlanta Christian School was Slayton’s high school, where he also participated in football. Slayton attended Auburn University, where he played collegiate football. He took a redshirt in 2015 and played a part from 2016 to 2018.

Slayton was drafted by the New York Giants in the fifth round, 171st overall, of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was the 18th wide receiver taken that year.

He scored a 35-yard touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings in his third game, a 28-10 loss. In Week 8’s 31-26 defeat to the Detroit Lions, Slayton hauled in two catches for 50 yards and two scores.

Slayton had 10 receptions for 121 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Week 10’s game against the New York Jets, which the Giants lost 27-34.
