He played football while a student at John Ehret High School. In his senior year of high school, he finished with 2,036 yards and 27 touchdowns.
When he graduated from high school, he was a four-star recruit and received offers from several colleges. However, he decided to attend Louisiana State University, where he played college football for the LSU Tigers. He entered a four-player running back rotation as a freshman. He made a number of starts as a senior.
After LSU’s 2017 season came to a close, he decided to participate in the 2018 Senior Bowl. Williams was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in May 2018 as an undrafted free agent after going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft. He recorded three receptions for 27 receiving yards, a receiving touchdown, and a total of 13 rushing attempts for 44 rushing yards in his rookie season.
He added another year to the length of his Chiefs deal in March 2021. By the end of the 2021 season, he had a career-high 558 yards and six rushing touchdowns. He also had two receiving touchdowns on 47 receptions for 452 yards. In May 2022, Williams agreed to a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals.
