Wise participated in college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks during his time there. He agreed to participate in the East–West Shrine Game in 2017, after receiving an offer to do so.

During their victory versus the East by a score of 10–3, the Wise defense was responsible for eight combined tackles, 1.5 sacks, four quarterback pressures, and one forced fumble.

His dominating effort and game-high eight tackles led to an increase in his draft stock, as numerous draft gurus reported on his surge up selection boards.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, which took place in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was one of 59 defensive lineman who were invited to participate. He made the decision to take part in Arkansas’ Pro Day on March 15, 2017, and he did so.
