Free agent safety Deionte Thompson competes in the National Football League professionally. He is 1.85 m tall and 88 kg in weight. He participated in football when a student at West Orange-Stark High School, recording 15 interceptions. He decided to attend the University of Alabama to play college football. He played football for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2015 to 2018.
After redshirting his first season at Alabama, he participated in 14 games as a redshirt freshman in 2016, recording nine tackles. As a sophomore in 2017, he played in 14 games and made two starts. During that period, he had 25 tackles and one interception. He started 14 games in 2018 and took part in them all. He was chosen as a second team All-America as a junior by Walter Camp and the FWAA.
In addition, he was named to Sports Illustrated’s first team All-America, the league coaches’ first team All-SEC, and the Associated Press’ second team. Thompson made the decision to miss his senior year after the 2018 season in order to focus on an NFL career. He was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in 11 games as a rookie and made 18 tackles. The Cardinals released Thompson on September 27, 2022.
