Although he presently has a free agency status, Deionte Thompson is a safety that competes in the National Football League. At 1.85 m tall and 88 kilograms, he is quite heavy. He was a student at West Orange-Stark High School and participated in football there. He recorded 15 interceptions while a high schooler. For the Alabama Crimson Tide football team, he participated in collegiate football at the University of Alabama.
He played in 14 games in 2016 as a redshirt freshman after redshirting his first year at Alabama in 2015 and registering nine tackles. He rotated in the secondary for the Tide, where he gained consistent time on special teams. He made 25 tackles and one interception in his 14 games played as a sophomore in 2017. He also made two starts in those games.

The Arizona Cardinals chose Thompson in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in 11 games and had 18 tackles in his first season. The Cardinals released Thompson on September 27, 2022.
